Judeo-Christian Values
- There is One God. He has revealed himself in the Bible and in creation.
- He is the reference point for everything. He is the Truth. Our lives need to revolve around him and his will.
- The spiritual dimension of our cosmos is of much greater import than the material world.
- Mankind was created in the image of God. Our dignity, our rights and responsibilities come from God.
- God has created order in this world. The blurring of these distinctions creates the chaos that destroys.
- God and mankind
- God and creation
- Man and woman
- Mankind and animal
- Good and evil
- Truth and lies
- Each human being is born with original sin, a tendency away from God and the good.
- Objective moral truth is essential for right living. Our natural inclinations (“i.e. follow your heart”) are prone to lead us astray.
- There is objective moral truth just like there are objective mathematical and scientific truths.
- The Ten Commandments are the revealed objective moral truths – the guard rails to keep us living wholesomely.
- Humans have free will. God will call all to account on Judgement Day. Environment and heredity do not negate free will.
- In all relationships, choosing the love ethic, not a revenge response, nor fear-control, nor the greed impulse (“I want your stuff”.)
- Love your neighbour, love your enemy, bless those who curse you.
- Trust God to transform our own hearts … or the enemy, the situation, the relationship.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
